FOUR KENDALL SC TEAMS ADVANCE TO REGULAR SEASON PLAYOFFS

February 18, 2009 – Four Kendall SC teams – U14B White, U13B White, U13B Blue, and U14G White - will be playing this weekend in the SFUYSA and FLUGSA regular season playoffs based on their performance during season play. This strong showing comes on the heels of the five early season teams that qualified for the late season round robin playoff elimination. Games start on Friday night, with the boys playing at Plantation’s Pine Island Park and the girls at Plantation’s Central Park. Click below to see the teams’ full schedule.

The U14B White, coached by Mario Concha, finished in fourth place out of 15 teams playing in Division 1 with a 10-3-1 record. They will play Team Boca in one semifinal match Friday at 7:30 pm in Pine Island field #5. If they advance to the Final, they will play the winner of West Pines United Black and Weston Fury Premier on Sunday at 9:00 am in field #5.

The U13B White, coached by Julio Perdomo, finished in fourth place out of 18 teams in Division 1 with a 9-2-3 record. The team allowed a league second-best 10 goals against and posted wins against the first place team, SAA-Real Madrid, and the third-place Coral Gables Toros. They will face Parkland Predators in the quarterfinals at 7:30 pm in Pine Island field #3. A victory would place them in a semifinal match against SAA-Real Madrid on Saturday at 11:00 am in field #6. The Final will be played Sunday at 9:00 am on field #2.

The U13B Blue, which boasts a roster made up mostly of U12 players, finished third in Division 2 with an 11-2-1 record. The team, which is coached by Chiquinho de Assis, scored a league second-best 57 goals during the season. They play a quarterfinal match at 8:00 am on Saturday against Weston Fury Nike in field #2. A win would pit Kendall SC against the winner of the Lauderdale Lakes and Cooper City Optimist game in a semifinal match at 3:00 pm Saturday in field #6. The Final will be played on Sunday at 9:00 am in field #3.

The U14G White, who finished a close second in FLUGSA’s Division A, posted an impressive 14-2-0 record and scored 60 goals while allowing only 14. The team, which is coached by Arthur Paterson, is in its first season ever. They will play Wellington Wave on Saturday at 9:00 am in Central Park. The Final will be played Saturday at 1:00 pm.
