U14G BLUE WIN WHITE FLIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE ORANGE CLASSIC

January 2, 2010 – It wasn’t an easy road, but Kendall SC’s U14G Blue team fought their way to win the championship of the White flight of the 2009 Orange Classic, taking the final by the narrowest of margins, on penalty kicks over Coral Springs Renegades. Claiming the title in their first tournament appearance marks a big step forward for the newly formed team.

The Kendall SC girls had to overcome a 0-1 loss to Plantation FC Copa in their first match, but they came back strong with wins over SAA Real Madrid (2-1) and Sunrise Sting (1-0) to qualify for the semifinal.  They followed it up with a convincing 3-0 shutout over Weston FC Nike, setting up the decisive showdown against Renegades.

Also participating in the year-end tournament were the U14G White and the U15G White teams. The U15 girls missed out on the championship round after finishing with a 1-1-1 record in the Orange flight, including a 1-1 tie with Georgia’s #8 ranked team, Tophat SC Gold. The U14G White could not overcome an early 0-1 loss to New York East’s #6 ranked team, although they held their own in ties against two Top 10 teams from Florida, West Pines United (1-1) and Pinecrest Premier Blue (2-2).
