Feb. 17, 2010 – US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Girls is holding their fifth national camp for the 1993, 1994 and 1995 age groups from Feb. 16-20, 2010, at the Cypress Park Fields and the North Community Park Fields in Coral Springs, Fla. Participating in the camp will be Kendall SC’s Iris Dunn, a member of the U15G White team.

The camp expanded this year to include the Under-17 (1993) Girls along with the Under-15 (1995) and Under-16 (1994). A scramble format is in place with functional training, Small-Sided Games, street soccer, guest speakers and a mini round-robin tournament on the final day. The developmental camp focuses on Small-Sided Games to highlight the players individually.

"US Youth Soccer ODP realizes the importance of laying the groundwork for tactical and technical development of our young players," said Sam Snow, US Youth Soccer director of coaching. "It is important that the experience for the players be positive, especially in these training camp situations. What our players learn in this initial set up will set the tone for their future developmental progress."

The camp themes are interpretation and understanding the game from different perspectives and problem solving within the game. The scramble team training will focus on technical mastery under pressure, technical aspects of possession, possession as a means of penetration and how the different lines function and move the ball together.

US Youth Soccer is divided into four regions, Region I (East), Region II (Midwest), Region III (South) and Region IV (West) to assist in these national competitions.

US Youth Soccer ODP is the original Olympic development program and the only elite player development program claiming members of Major League Soccer and Women’s Professional Soccer as well as a majority of current and past national and youth team members, as alumni. And, with programs in all 55 State Associations as well as regional and national championships and participation in international tournaments, US Youth Soccer ODP continues to lead the way.
